Life Science Transfer Academy | AUTUMN 2026
From research to real-world impact
Life Science Transfer Academy (LSTA) is an educational and development programme for life science researchers who want to better understand how their research can find its way into practice – through collaboration, licensing, or future spin-offs.What is Life Science Transfer Academy?
Life Science Transfer Academy is a structured, practice-oriented programme focused on science-to-business and research commercialisation in the life sciences.
Over the course of the programme, participants work on their own research-based projects and explore:
Over the course of the programme, participants work on their own research-based projects and explore:
- what problem their research is actually solving,
- who could benefit from it in real-world settings,
- what commercialisation paths exist,
- and how to make informed decisions about the future of their project.
Who should consider LSTA?
The programme is designed for:
- master students, PhD candidates, postdocs, and early-career researchers in life sciences,
- researchers working on projects with potential application beyond academia,
- scientists who are curious about impact, but not necessarily aiming to start a company,
- teams or individuals at an early stage of thinking about transfer or collaboration.
You do not need:
-
a finished product,
-
a company,
-
or a clear commercial plan.
You do need:
-
a research project with potential relevance outside academia,
-
openness to reflect, validate assumptions, and learn.
What will you gain from the programme?
By the end of the programme, participants:
- understand the value and potential impact of their research,
- can clearly explain what problem they solve and for whom,
- know the main routes of commercialisation (licensing, collaboration, spin-off),
- understand the role of IP, TTOs, and partners,
- have tested their assumptions through basic validation,
- and are able to make a conscious decision about next steps.
When and by whom is the programme organised?
Life Science Transfer Academy is co-organised by JIC (South Moravian Innovation Centre) CEITEC MUNI and MED MUNI in close cooperation with technology transfer offices, investors and industry partners. The programme is held once a year, with the next cohort planned for autumn 2026, and takes place at CEITEC MUNI, Brno Czech Republic. All activities are conducted in English to reflect the international nature of life science research and collaboration.
