Ten teams with an innovative idea related to IoT or ICT security will fine-tune their business in Brno. The oldest Czech-based startup accelerator JIC STARCUBE has just begun with a bootcamp.  Teams have three months to get IoT and ICT security smarter with the help of workshops, seminars and consultation with mentors. Results of hard work done will be presented on JIC STARCUBE Show in December.

The 7th run of accelerator focuses on IoT and ICT security as the main field for the first time. The position of the second largest city of the Czech Republic is strategic in this respect - 40% of global antivirus market is controlled by companies based in Brno or places that can be reached within two hours from Brno. JIC STARCUBE has already accelerated IoT projects as GINA Software, BRACI and Observe Design. Who will be the next?

Estonian startup Dronee offers easily programmable drones through an open-source software. Another Estonian team, ESEC Solution – Secure Design, can protect websites that cannot afford administrator guarding their safety on a daily basis. Tap4Parking application developed by an Ukrainian team uses smart cameras to navigate drivers to reserved parking space.

Czech teams are represented by Pillmo, an application which helps users organize health issues - it times the proper dosage of drugs, keeps an eye on their mutual contraindications and reminds people of preventive examination. EASYCON has a prototype of affordable and user-friendly interface for each wireless device in smart homes. Brno team FlowUp creates a platform for easy communication between town hall and citizens. Security Feed aggregates sources of information about internet threats to protect systems against malware and phishing effectively and offers open and cost-effective solutions in comparison with existing black boxes. Grizly Security can secure existing website information systems through a two-step verification.

The actual JIC STARCUBE run received 88 applications from 32 countries (covering all continents except Antarctica). The most non-Czech applications came from India where the first application was from. The furthermost team that applied came from Australia. The youngest applicant is 19 and the oldest one is 57.
